Our customers should feel safe and view RedMart (and you!) as a trustworthy supermarket to buy their groceries from. To establish this, we would require Sellers to ensure that products in the categories highlighted in the regulations below to meet the proper requirements.


A) Food Labelling Requirements

Sellers have to ensure all products that fall in categories below, to meet the proper labelling on packaging as per Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority of Singapore (AVA) requirements according to Singapore Food regulations. This is in line with our quality control process so that we can offer our customers the best products with the best customer experience. 


1. Pre-packed Foods

Any labelling has to be printed in not less than 1.5mm in height and has to be in English. Labelling requirements for pre-packed foods include:

  • Name and description of food

  • Statement of ingredients

  • Declaration of foods and ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity

  • Declaration of net content in package

  • Name and address of the local manufacturer / importer

  • Country of origin of food

  • Expiry date

2. Raw Produce

In addition to the above requirements, for pre-packed raw produce that needs to be stored in chilled or frozen condition, each Product must include Packing / Packed On Date.

 

What products falls under raw produce? 

  • raw meat

  • raw minced or chopped meat

  • raw organs

  • raw fish 

  • raw crustaceans

  • raw shellfish


This EXCLUDES processed or manufactured food products such as corned, cured, pickled or salted meat, smoked meat, hamburger meat and other burger meat, sausage meat, smoked fish, fish ball and fish cake. 

 

Labelling requirements for Raw Produce:

  • Name and description of food

  • Statement of ingredients

  • Declaration of foods and ingredients known to cause hypersensitivity

  • Declaration of net content in package

  • Name and address of the local manufacturer / importer

  • Country of origin of food

  • Packed date

  • Expiry date

It is the Seller’s responsibility to ensure that all necessary permits, and licences are obtained for all products sold on RedMart. To ensure compliance AVA regulations, RedMart reserves the right to conduct checks and request for copies of licenses on the products to ensure labelling and quality standards are met.


B) importing edible oils from Malaysia

There is a new import requirement with effect from 1 June 2018 which includes edible oils under the Enhanced Regulated Source Programme (ERSP). Importers are advised to obtain a copy of letter of MOH Malaysia’s approval of the edible oil establishment from your supplier, please ensure that your products are align with updated regulation (read more here).
